What Happens To The Money?
The following are items have been purchased from monies raised from donations made by the public to the Cancer Fighting Fund and from the event Stride4Life during and for which the hospital is truely thankful to all who helped.
* Magic Eye for early diagnosis of lung tumours
* Mammotone System to help with the diagnosis and treatment of breast lumps
* Multiheaded projector to aid the diagnosis of cervical Cancer
* Counselling support for cancer nurse specialist
* Digital camera to aid with the diagnosis of cancer cells
* Luxury massage chair for patients undergoing chemotherapy
* Pagers for cancer clinical nurse specialists and patients going home to recover - these enables staff and patients to have fast access 24/7 to a cancer nurse specialist for expert advice and support
* The Pill-Cam (capsule endoscope) for early detection of small bowel tumours
* Reclining chairs for paitents
* Complementary therapies
* Nebulizers to loan to patients with breathing difficulties going home
PLEASE NOTE: Before any items are purchased with monies held in the Cancer Fighting Fund, The Hospital's Charity Board discuss whether or not the Fund should purchase the item.
The Board is made up from Consultants, Hospital Staff and members of the Public.
